Quiet weekend

What a nice treat a free weekend with no gigs, which is lucky as i've got the worst head cold!!
But been very busy with inquiries this week, quite a few for 2011 but also several for weddings over the next couple of months-the one's I cant do I will pass on to a couple of DJ's I know but people really are cutting it fine. I know brides like to get their dresses sorted first but once the venue is booked and confirmed, the evening entertainment should really be sourced and booked as soon as possible.

House Party

I have a house party on Sataurday which is something i'm always a little nervous about as is very difficult to control your working environment. It is easy for the party guests to get to close to my precious & very expensive disco equipment-to spill a pint or fall on a light stand. But this client seems like a really nice bloke & it's his 40th so shouldn't be too wild!!
I've been compilling his playlist all week and it's certainly different-it ranges from Chemical Brothers to Colin Blunstone. I've also been working on our new website so hopefully that will be up and running soon.

Well Christmas has come & gone & the New Year is shaping up to be a very busy one!  Generally the first 3 months can be quiet but this year has been busy.  I've had several 40th birthdays which have been great as the music preference has been mostly 80's & disco and some really great party anthems.... and such lovely clients as well.

Its great on the night of an event to see the dance floor packed but the real 'proof in the pudding' of client satisfaction is when they book you again.  My lovely halloween couple have booked my for their 1st wedding anniversary so I need to start thinking about my fancy dress costume....and I've got a wedding and a 70th booked in the same month by the same family-a real party & kareoke family whose 18th I did for their daugther last year.  So I must be doing something right....

So that's another year over....& a very good one I have to say.  Those Party People had a very busy year & Those Beauty People started it's first year and is proving to be very popular for our brides to be.
I've got my dj rig just as I want it but no doubt will have to invest in some new toys!!  Ive already got lots of jobs in for 2010 & even some in for 2011 for those very organised wedding couple.
Getting back to 2010- what some great weddings.  I especially enjoyed the haloween themed wedding where I got to dress up as well(check out the photos). It was a great atmosphere & I've been booked for their anniversay

Haloween wedding

So Haloween is over....but what fun it was!  I was lucky enough to be booked to provide the reception entertainment for a lovley couple's Haloween themed wedding.  Sandra and Chris asked if I would dress the rig and myself to fit in with the theme and of course I had no hesitation in saying yes.  I really enjoyed sourcing the decorations for the rig and went to my favourite party shop Sussex Parties who always do me proud.  Got some huge skeletons that would glow under my new ultra violet lights and as you can see from the photos I've posted they look great.
The crowd did not leave the dancefloor all night and the atmosphere was superb.  I'm now thinking if I ever make an honest woman of 'er indoors' then a Haloween theme it will be.

A Smashing Time

Apart from being a DJ, an actor and a dad I also front the band Smashing Time.    Like most blokes I like to hang out with my mates, have a few beers and pretend to be a rock God...well I get  to do this when the band get together and play a few gigs.  We've been lucky enough to support some great bands and had some fantastic fun on the way.

2009 has been quiet for us due to other commitments but we've just had a track released on album released by Acid Jazz and  2010 is set to be a great year for us as with some great gigs lined up.
